How to Read the Plate.

  • The needle says which way. Every print is classified — at the ask counts as buying, at the bid as selling — and the needle shows the net, as a share of the whole. The arc on the side in control lights up as the needle leans and the other side dims, so you can read it at a glance; how early it lights is a setting.
  • The inner arc says whether to believe it. Conviction compares the current tape with what is normal for this instrument right now. A pinned needle on a thin tape is noise; on a full arc it is something.
  • The background says which side of the trend you are on. Optional, and on by default: the chart is tinted green while the 56 EMA of its own bars is above the 145, and red while it is below. Both lengths are settings. Alpha Flow reads only the chart it sits on, so your chart stays as fast as it was without it.
  • A reading, not an opinion. No signals, no alerts, no plots for a strategy to read. It informs your plan; it never makes the call for you.

The mindset: You stop guessing and start reading. A trader who reads the tape does not chase it.
